== 2. Administering Sophie Server ==

This release of Sophie provides the first public release of the Sophie Server application. This is in the main download package. To run Sophie Server, first follow the [wiki:ITERATION_11/Release/UserDocumentation/01_PreReleaseSophie/01_InstallationInstructions installation instructions] for Sophie. Then run the file ''sophie2-alpha-4\sophie2_server.bat'' (on Windows) or ''sophie2-alpha-4/sophie2_server.sh'' (on Linux or a Mac). 

To test if your Sophie Server is working, navigate to [http://localhost:8003 http://localhost:8003] or [http://127.0.0.1:8003 http://127.0.0.1:8003]. If Sophie Server is running correctly, you should see the standard Sophie Server interface; go [wiki:ITERATION_11/Release/UserDocumentation/SophieServer/01_WorkingWithSophieServer here] for instructions. You'll be able to create new accounts and login just as with our demonstration server. Be aware that this is server software; it does open a port on your computer, and you should exercise appropriate precautions. If you're uncomfortable with this (or don't know what this means), please don't run Sophie Server.
